As a student of literature I may falter at jargon's but I hope a layman's view is always welcome. A free market economy as I understand works somewhat close to the Darwinian principle. The market may well flourish under this system it leaves out a part of the society where the demand of necessities will stumble if put at par with market norms. The system of subsidiaries and price roofs are to help the poor and also to stop hoarding.
